    We read Joel Salatin often, and this is the most practical/practicable for us, as we are establishing a small homestead. We met Joel at a women's conference hosted at Polyface Farms last fall (I was one of the husbands wandering the farm, learning/observing, asking questions of his interns). Everything I've read is true. His farm smells great, animals look healthy/content, nothing is Pinterest; instead, it is practical and sustainable. If you are doing a smaller homestead/farming, this is his best book to start with.
    That said, we've enjoyed... and learned from... everything he's written. Highly recommend.

    We are embarking on the homestead journey next month, and I finally have a guide to tell me exactly what to know, what to watch out for, and how to proceed. I've read a number of Polyface books, but this one is well suited to our needs at this time. We are on the brink and here's our road map. Couldn't ask for better guidance. And, as always, Joel Salatin provides an enjoyable, as well as informative, read.
